The Chortle Awards

It was smiles all round on Monday night at The Chortle Awards, held in the lavish Café de Paris in the heart of the West End.

Sponsored by Universal Pictures, The Chortle Awards is held every year in order to award up-and-coming comedy greats with the acknowledgement they deserve.

Hosted by dry humoured, TV funny lady Jo Brand, the event welcomed the likes of Harry Enfield, the boys from Blue and actor and comedian Omid Djalili to mingle amongst the crowds and indulge in all things funny.

Double awards went to Stewart Lee and Richard Herring,
with their renowned BBC Two show Fist Of Fun stealing ‘Best DVD title’.

Tony Law also nabbed two in the bag after making a splash with his show Maximum Nonsense, as well as being crowned ‘Best Club Comic’.

American straight-talker Louis CK took the ‘Innovation Award’ for his original notion of selling downloads of his shows directly to the public.

With the crème de la crème of comedians all crammed into one room, it was a night of anecdotes, jokes and laughter.

We can’t wait for next years!
