This Disney masterpiece certainly had the potential to become a hit musical and so it was not very long after the release of the film when it was adapted into a stage production. Composer Alan Menken’s music easily pulled through the journey with three of his songs transitioning onto the stage. As well as the original songs, four new numbers are created, composed by Menken and playwright Chad Beguelin. Therefore it should not be surprising that it became one of the most successful stage shows ever.
