This horror classic became the highest-grossing R-rated horror film ever when it was released in 1973. The film is an adaptation of a novel by William Friedkin about a child who is possessed by a demon and show bizarre and disturbing behaviour, with the child’s mother calling on not one but two priests to banish the demon. The film drew some controversy as reports claimed that many watching in cinema suffered from nausea and fainting when watching.
