The dog-loving comedian has announced his support for the World Society for the Protection of Animals’ ‘Collars Not Cruelty’ campaign to protect dogs from both illness and neglect. He also supports the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting, but he’s probably best-known as a cat lover, first for the famous Colin, then for Ollie, a gift from Jonathan Ross, and now for foster cat Pickle (strictly, ‘Picklicious Fatkins the First’), fostered seven months after 16-year-old Ollie died in March 2020. Pickle is described as “3/8 Burmese, 1/8 Siamese, 1/4 Cornish Rex, 1/4 Devon Rex, 1/2 English, 1/4 French Canadian, 1/4 Irish and 100% CAT!”

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is widely recognised for his sizeable financial donations to animal activism groups – he was named global ambassador of a campaign to help protect elephants by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, and runs the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which supports projects around the world that build climate resiliency, protect vulnerable wildlife, and restore balance to threatened ecosystems and communities. Earlier this year Leonardo DiCaprio and girlfriend Camila Morrone adopted two sibling puppies, posting on Instagram: “I’m officially obsessed with fostering. I couldn’t stand the thought of Jack not being with his sister, so I asked if I could take in Jill as well.”
